GWIM Devotion: Walking in Daily Surrender and Grace
Updated: Sep 1

Scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."-Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV) Word For Today
Welcome back, dear sister. During our last discussion, we laid the foundation for what it means to invite God to search our hearts and acknowledged that true purity comes from a surrendered posture rather than our own strength. And so, today, let’s continue our journey into what it looks like to live out this renewed heart day by day.
Let me speak directly to you. To the woman who has truly tried to keep a good heart before God. First, I want you to know you didn’t do that on your own; God has always been your helper. To the one who wakes up and chooses forgiveness, chooses prayer, chooses obedience. And yet, temptation came. Distractions pulled you. You compromised in a moment you wish you could take back. I want you to not give up, because God sees you. He sees the times you chose Him when no one noticed you.
He sees the tears, the prayers whispered over your home, over others. The effort to guard your heart. And here's the good news: God is fighting for you.
"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." — 2 Chronicles 16:9
Your misstep didn't disqualify you. So, get up, repent. Let Him wash you, and keep building. A pure heart is not a perfect one. It's a surrendered heart that keeps turning back to God. When your heart is right with Him, He will fight for you.
God doesn't want you to carry a hard, calloused heart, nor does He want you to live weighed down by pride (Proverbs 21:4). Instead, He longs for you to cultivate a humble, soft, and pure heart, a heart that is wide open to experiencing His presence and seeing His goodness unfold in your everyday life.
Take a deep breath, lay your burdens down, and invite Him in to search your heart today. He is ready to meet you with open, loving arms.
Reflection What is one small, intentional step you can take today to keep your heart with diligence and ensure it remains in a posture of surrender?
Prayer
Please repeat this prayer with me: Father, search my heart. Reveal any area that displeases You. Wash me, cleanse me, and give me a pure heart. I surrender my bitterness, my pride, and my hidden motives to You. Fight for me as I yield to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
