A woman lifting her hands

Scripture: "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint."-  Isaiah 40:31 Word For Today

We try so hard to flap our own wings through life, don’t we? As Christian women, we’re running ourselves ragged trying to keep things afloat in our careers, keep the laundry folded, manage the budget, heal our marriages, and carry the heavy weight of our family’s needs. We push through the toddler tantrums, the relentless deadlines, and the late-night anxiety, convincing ourselves that if we flap a little faster and work a little harder, we will finally reach smooth air.

And exhaustion always creeps in, doesn't it? We end up wrung out, dragging our feet, wondering why our spirits feel so bruised. But we serve a Savior who doesn't just watch us struggle; He is the breath in our lungs and the wind beneath our wings.

Look at how God describes true strength in Isaiah 40:31 (NLT), "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint."

Notice what the Scripture doesn't say. It doesn't say, “Those who try harder will fly.” It says those who trust will soar.

An eagle doesn't exhaust itself fighting the storm; it spreads its wings and lets the wind carry it higher than the clouds. The eagle isn't generating the power; it is simply yielding to a force far greater than itself.

When life presses down, God’s grace is that invisible thermal updraft. Striving says, “It all depends on my effort.” But surrender says, “Jesus, I trust Your lift.” Grace is God doing in us and through us what we could never pull off on our own.

So how do we stop the frantic flapping and let His Spirit carry us today?

  • Point your limits honestly. Tell Him, "Lord, I can't carry this child's future, this financial worry, or this heavy heart." Naming your limitation isn't defeat; it is the doorway to His strength.

  • Take a Holy Spirit reset. Pause for five minutes today. Sit in quiet worship or hold a single Bible verse in your mind. Let His presence become the quiet draft that lifts your head.

  • Stop comparing your flight path. This right here is very important. God’s grace for you today is custom-made. Your season doesn't look like your friend's, and that is where God wants you.

Sis, you aren't meant to carry it all alone. You can stop forcing, stop fixing, and stop fighting the currents of this season. Spread your arms wide, lean into His abiding presence today, and let His Spirit carry you above the clouds.

Prayer

Jesus, I am so tired of flapping my wings in my own strength. Today, I surrender my striving to You, and I choose to trust Your grace. Be the wind beneath my wings and lift me above what is weighing me down. Amen.
