Finding God In-Between: How Surrender Leads to Transformation

There are seasons in a woman’s life when she knows she is no longer who she used to be, yet she cannot quite see who she is becoming. She is somewhere in between. Between what was and what will be. Between the prayer and the answer. Between the breaking and the becoming. Between what God has asked her to release and what He has promised to place in her hands.

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” — Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

"I have learned that God is not only the God of the beginning and the destination. He is also the God of the in-between." And sometimes, the in-between is where He does His deepest work. Yes. There was a time when I thought transformation meant becoming stronger, more confident, and more capable. But walking with Jesus has taught me something very different. And that true transformation begins with surrender. "And so... let God transform you into a new person.”— Romans 12:1-2 (NLT).

Transformation is not simply changing what people see on the outside; it is allowing God to change us from the inside out. It’s that moment when we lay it all down. And sometimes God has to take us through places we would never have chosen to reveal the woman He created us to become. I know what it means to build a life upon carefully laid plans and high expectations, only to discover that God’s blueprint looked entirely different. I also know what it is to have to surrender my own understanding; I know what it is to stand at a crossroads and say, “Lord, I don't understand this, but I trust You.” That is where faith becomes so real.

In Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

So, Surrender is not giving up. It’s permitting God to lead. And surrender everything to Him, not just the easy parts, not half your heart, all of it. Women who are reading this may feel as though their lives have been interrupted. Perhaps you are raising a child and wondering where you went wrong; perhaps you are rebuilding after a relationship ended. Perhaps you have lost something, or someone, you thought you could never live without. Or maybe you have prayed for years, and heaven seems silent. Maybe God is asking you to walk away from something familiar and step into something you cannot yet see.

Or maybe, if you're anything like me, you are simply in that strange place where you know God is doing something, but you don't yet know what it is. I need you to understand this: do not despise your in-between; God is there. He was there in the valley, He was there in the wilderness, He was there in the waiting, He was there in the tears, and  He is there now.

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”— Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)

Even in the in-between, God says, "See." Right where you are, God is saying, "See." Don't miss it, sister, because sometimes the new thing begins before we can understand it. The transformation begins before there is even evidence. A butterfly does not become a butterfly by resisting the process inside the cocoon.

There is a season when everything familiar must change. The old form must surrender so the new can emerge. There is no shame in being a woman who is still becoming; there is no shame in saying, “Lord, I don't know what to do.”

There is no shame either in admitting that you are afraid. And, to stress this point once more, that is where faith comes in. Faith is not the absence of fear. Sometimes faith is simply saying yes to God while your hands are still trembling.

I have discovered that obedience to the Holy Spirit often requires courage. There have been moments when God has prompted me to do things that made no sense to my natural mind. Yet I have learned that obedience is not about having all the details; it is about trusting the One who does. And this is what I want every woman reading this to know: your story is not disqualified for containing broken places. God can use the very places you thought would disqualify you. He can take your pain and give it purpose; He can take your tears and turn them into testimony; He can take what the enemy meant for destruction and work it together for good.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”— Romans 8:28 (NLT)

Your scars may become someone else's evidence that healing is possible. Your testimony may become the courage another woman needs to keep going. And your obedience may become the very doorway through which another generation encounters Jesus. Jesus is the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the God of the In-Between. As Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us, "God has made everything beautiful in its time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

God's timing is perfect, even when we're waiting. We only see the middle, but God sees from beginning to end.

So, dear woman, if you are somewhere between where you were and where you believe, God is taking you; don't give up. Keep praying, keep surrendering, obeying, and trusting; keep becoming. You may not see the finished picture yet, but the One who began the good work in you has not abandoned the canvas. You are still being transformed. And one day, you will look back and realise that the very season you thought was breaking you was the season God was preparing you to bloom.

Surrender to Him today; trust His process. And follow  His voice. Because when a woman truly surrenders to Jesus, she doesn't lose herself; she discovers whom He created her to be. OUR GUEST'S BIO
